KT Holsters are built with a water evacuation feature. You may notice a small "Anchor" symbol next to the QR code and web address laser engraved on the holster. This symbolizes "Maritime ready," because we supply these holster all over the world to both State Military, PMC, and other entities that require an "All Weather Holster."
KT Gunfighter / Mechanized KT Gunfighter holster (adjustable retention)
- The KT Gunfighter holster is our most popular model because of its versatility. Each holster (KT Gunfighter/Mechanized KT Gunfighter/KT Defender) includes a set of 1.5" or 1.75" rigid OWB Belt Loops. You can easily convert the holster for IWB carry by simply replacing belt loops for IWB carry. IWB loops are sold separately and you'll find them in the optional parts page.
- The Mechanized KT Gunfighter holster shares the same features with the standard KT Gunfighter holster, with the added benefit of an adjustable passive retention set screw. Each holster is built with a draw resistance of about 6-8 lbs from the factory (subject to change depending on your relative elevation, humidity, handgun/holster customization, metal finish, or thermoplastic manufacture properties). The adjustable retention allows you to fine tune your preferred draw resistance (i.e. hard for EDC or soft for competition).

KT Defender holsters (Weapon light compatible)
- The KT Defender holster is the weapon light compatible version of the KT Gunfighter holster. They share the same features and parts, except for the low profile belt loops. Since the KT Defender holster has the added girth of a weapon light and weapon light cavity, this already brings the holster very close to your body. The low profile belt loops may bring the holster a little too close for comfort and it is not recommended.
- The weapon lights available to each handgun model may differ because some fits most but not all (i.e. a full size weapon light may not fit a compact handgun, therefore it is not an available option).
- Each weapon light attaches to the handgun, typically via an accessory rail. These accessory rails typically come in two most common formats, the Military Standard M1913 rail dimension (i.e. 1911, CZ, FN, HK, S&W, Sig Sauer, Walther, etc...), and the Weaver or Glock rail dimension (i.e. Glock, Springfield, etc...).
- Each weapon light manufacturer may have a different method of attaching to the rail. Most light manufacturers provide a set of rail keys that lock onto the accessory rail, typically to fit either the M1913 or Glock rail dimension. If you're not sure of which rail key to use on your handgun and weapon light combination, just contact us and we'll provide you with the optimal setup to ensure a good fit with the holster, email: contact@kt-mech.com
- If you modify your weapon light's attachment method outside of the manufacturer's suggested usage, we may not be able to build a holster for you because it would be very unlikely for us to exactly duplicate your personal craftsmanship, thereby we cannot guarantee a good fit.
IDPA Legal Holster (w/ zero drop)
The KT Gunfighter or Mechanized KT Gunfighter holsters are IDPA legal (IDPA Compliant, IDPA Approved). If you're planning to compete, be sure to select the "0 deg Zero Drop" on the CANT option, so that you don't violate the 180 degree range rule (IDPA rule 8.5.1.5). Below are additional IDPA rules that are just as important to remember.
IDPA rule 8.5.1.7 - "Must hold the firearm with enough tension to allow the wearer to complete normal daily tasks without fear of losing the weapon." - The KT Gunfighter holster meets this criteria and if you choose the Mechanized version, you'll be able to adjust the retention to your preferred setting.
IDPA rule 8.5.1.9 - "For male shooters, the holster must carry firearm so that the entire front strap (to the trigger guard) is at or above the top of the belt. IWB holsters are exempt from this rule." - The KT Gunfighter meets this requirement since the belt loops are mounted at or near CG (Center of Gravity) which is right by the trigger guard.
IDPA rule 8.5.1.15 - "The front edge of the holster may not be more than 1 ¾ inch/44.5mm below the breech face (autos) or 1 inch/25.4mm below the rear of the cylinder (revolvers)." - All KT holsters cover the ejection port and easily meets this requirement.
IDPA rule 8.5.1.17 - "For male shooters only, the holsters must fit the shooter’s body such that a ¾ inch/19.1mm diameter dowel placed between the shooter and the firearm anywhere above the belt contacts both the shooter and the firearm simultaneously." - The KT Gunfighter line of holsters all hug the body, by design, and easily meets this requirement. If you have enough of a spare tire to which your body slightly pushes closer to the holster, then you may also be able to qualify with the KT AKELA line of holsters that have a slight offset. To test, use a 3/4" dowel or 12ga shotgun shell in between you and the holster (above your belt). Your body and the holster must touch the dowel or shotgun shell at the same time. This rule depends on your body type.
IDPA rule 8.5.1.18 - "Not Permitted:"
Cross-draw carry - KT does not support
Shoulder holster - Not yet available with KT holsters
Small of the back carry - This is your personal carry option
Appendix carry - KT does not support this because it violates one of the "Safe Handling of a Firearm rules, never point your firearm at anything that you do not wish to destroy."
Pocket carry - No KT holster available yet for pocket carry
Ideal Concealment, OWB or IWB (IWB loops sold separatly)
- The KT Gunfighter line of holsters, include the weapon light compatible KT Defender holsters, are low profile and built for concealment. This line of holsters employ a side mounted belt attachment for the best weight distribution, and to bring your firearm close and right next to your body.
- Each holster includes a free set of rigid OWB belt loops and you can convert the holster for IWB carry with a set of IWB loops (sold separately) from the optional parts page.

Low profile side mounted attachment (sits right against the body)
- The KT Gunfighter/Defender belt loop mounts are on the sides to keep the holster as close to the body as possible. Typical holsters use a central bolt pattern cluster that's ideal for range and duty use but because of the offset they create, not great for concealed carry because of excessive printing. Printing is when your firearm protrudes, and may be identifiable by its silhouette, through your clothing. Although legal Concealed Carriers rarely are prosecuted for this mishap because it is not technically identified as brandishing, local laws may vary and it is your duty to know the local laws of where you reside. The KT Gunfighter/Defender holsters help reduce printing by mounting the belt loops on each side, freeing up real estate between your body and the firearm, to allow for a close to body carry.
- The KT Gunfighter/Defender holsters are not compatible with the KT AKELA attachments (i.e. Tek-Lok, Paddles, etc...) for reasons mentioned above.
Comfortable wide surface area holster
- Since the KT Gunfighter/Defender holster's belt loops are on each side, this gives you a wider disbursement of weight, or an even weight distribution. Just like it's easier to lift a couch 50lbs with two people since you're both carrying only 25lbs, instead of one person bearing the whole 50lbs of dead weight.
Two Thermoplastic sheet construction
- The Two Thermoplastic sheet construction allows for the side mounted belt loops. This also give you more color/pattern combination options between the front and back sheets.
Free 1.5" or 1.75" OWB belt loops
The KT Gunfighter/Mechanized KT Gunfighter/KT Defender holsters includes a free set of rigid OWB belt loops. This free set of belt loops can fit up to a 1.5" or 1.75" wide belt. You can bring in the KT Gunfighter and Mechanized KT Gunfighter holster even closer to your body with the Low Profile belt loops from the parts dept. The Low Profile belt loops however are not advised for the weapon light compatible KT Defender holster because these holsters already sit very close to your body, and because of the weapon light's girth.
