Duty KT AKELA
Level 2 Holster |

The Duty KT AKELA Holster has 2 levels of retention (level 2). It has an adjustable profile retention as the Primary and a fast opening hood as the Secondary.
The Duty KT AKELA Holster has the traditional single fold (taco) style thermoplastic design. With dual adjustment screws, you can tune the fit around the muzzle and the overall retention of the holster.
Featuring the KT Universal bolt pattern, this allows you to use Blackhawk, Blade-tech, G-CODE RTI39 hangers, and Safariland belt attachments and drop legs. The KT Universal bolt pattern is pre-drilled, even if you choose the “no belt attachment” option.
A common feature with this holster is the high sight channel that will allow up to a 1/2” tall sight. The sight channel is open at the muzzle to allow dust and debris, and up to a 45acp shell to pass through.
This holster can be ordered with clearance for a weapon light or without. We can also build this holster with clearance for an RDS/Optics or a Threaded barrel at no extra charge. You can select these options from the order menu. For any other special modifications, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

This holster can be ordered with a solid color thermoplastic, patterns such as the Armor Black Basketweave, or a fabric wrap.
This holster can be ordered with an internal Microfiber Suede Liner that will cover the whole inside of the holster. The Microfiber Suede Liner will help reduce the wear on your handgun’s finish. The Microfiber Suede Liner is an add-on and you’ll find the link to it in the same page with the holster. Just add it to the shopping cart with your holster order.
The samples below depict the common features of this holster. Since we are a custom holster company, your actual holster’s features may vary depending on the options that you choose.
Level 2 hood release options:
The M360 KT Wild Weasel Holster is available in different level 2 hood release methods. There is no best or worst between them. Since everyone’s hand or thumb is different, we recommend that you choose the one that best fits your manual dexterity or whichever you can operate comfortably.

Push to the side to release or open the hood
The R1 hood is the fastest to open. With minimal complexity, this design has a simple to operate “push to the side” release lever. The release lever is extended and is very easy to reach and release.
+ The hood length is adjustable
* If your pistol has a "hammer," the hood's default position is with your hammer down or halfcocked. Add a comment with your order if you plan to carry with the hammer cocked-n-locked.
* Feedback from customers: Some dislike the push to the side release. Most like the fast opening and easy reach.
|

Rotate down to release or open the hood
The R2 hood is more secure because the release mechanism is partially enclosed. With a more complex design and tighter tolerance, this might require occasional lubrication and cleaning for proper functionality. Easy to release natural feeling lever.
+ The hood length is adjustable
* If your pistol has a "hammer," the hood's default position is with your hammer down or halfcocked. Add a comment with your order if you plan to carry with the hammer cocked-n-locked.
* Feedback from customers: Complaints are rare. This release method appears to fall in the "Goldilocks” zone in price and features, and is very well liked.
|

Push down button to release or open the hood
The R3 hood is a fully enclosed release mechanism for extra security. The R3 has a thicker hood and a slightly bulkier housing, which might be a good thing or a bad thing. The release button is recessed for security and might be harder to reach for some with limited dexterity.
* The hood length is not adjustable
* If your pistol has a "hammer," the hood's default position is with your hammer down or halfcocked. Add a comment with your order if you plan to carry with the hammer cocked-n-locked.
* Feedback from customers: Some find the button to be a little diffult to push. Most like the rigid hood.
